Visit the dropshipping forum: http://www.dropshippingforum.co.uk I'm a
member of an affiliate scheme but only earn 3%-8% on sales and
haven't received a penny yet - how much can I earn on items sold
through dropshipping? What
happens when I make a sale? So how do I make money? Your home based business makes money in the same way as any retail business. Your profit on each product is the difference between the price you pay for an item and the price you sell it for. When you sign up you have access to a number of products to sell via any means you can think of. We will inform you what the recommended price is of each product, but you don't have to sell the products at that price - you can charge more if you wish, or even run special promotions where you sell items less than the recommended price. It's entirely up to you. You make money because although you sell the items to your customers at the retail price we only charge you a special "Dropship" price.
Do you charge a set-up fee? A lot has been said about dropshippers and the fees they charge. Some charge high post/packing rates, others charge a standard "Dropship fee" per order but in our opinion the best dropshippers in America just charge a set-up fee. We have also decided to take this option and our set-up starts from as little as £4.99!
So why do you charge a set-up fee? If we didn't charge a set-up fee dropshipping wouldn't really work: Let's suppose Mr Smith wanted to buy a remote control plane (RRP £129.99). On eBay he noticed the plane was being sold for £99.99. This auction was being run by a member of Dropshipper.co.uk who buys the plane for just £64.99. What is to stop Mr Smith simply applying for a free membership to Dropshipper.co.uk and saving £35 buying direct from us? This is one of the main reasons for charging a set-up fee - preventing people from joining just to buy items for themselves at discounted rates. It makes being a member a bit more exclusive and is more likely to attract the kind of people we want - people who want to own a home-based-business. The fee isn't expensive but is enough to avoid the above scenario.
I have bought supplier information lists before - what makes dropshipping different? If you have purchased "wholesale lists", "dropshipper lists" or similar, I'm sure you were disappointed with what you received for your money. In many cases most of the suppliers are US based and many of the UK based wholesalers have minimum orders and won't entertain the thought of supplying ebayers/entrepreneurs/sole traders. The end result is that you have paid £10 or £15 for a list (supplied on CD or sent by e-mail) that you never use. Not all lists offer poor value for money though and a few are actually quite useful if you are happy to meet minimum orders. However, once you have bought one you've got them all! Don't go buying 2 or 3 different lists because they are likely to feature the same contacts. We are featured on some of these lists circulating the Internet, we are actual dropshippers and don't just sell lists. If you have any questions please e-mail FAQ.
